The program of "A growing tree for a growing country" expects to plant one million plants around the
country per year.Land Reform Commission partook in this program 01.01.2020 at Sodapaluwa Watta, by
planting trees.
The 36th commemoration of Late Hector Kobbekaduwa, former Minister of Lands and Agriculture and ceremony for granting deeds was held in grand manner on Monday, 16th September 2019 at the Main Auditorium of Western Provincial Council under the auspicious of of Hon. Gayantha Karunathilaka, Minister of Lands and Parliamentary Reforms. Many distinguished guests including Mr. Sirimewan Dias, Chairman of the Land Reform Commission, Mr. David Athukorala and other officers of the Commission participated in the occasion. At the ceremony, 50 persons, who occupied lands without ownership for the property, were granted title deeds by the Land Reform Commission.
A workshop for making officers of Land Reform Commission aware of Right to Information Act was held successfully under the patronage of Hon. Gayantha Karunathilaka, Minister of Lands and Parliamentary Affairs at Taj Samudra Hotel, Colombo on 18th August. This programme was organized under the full sponsorship of USAID in response to the request made by Hon. Minister. Mrs. Elisabeth Eastern, Country Director of USAID, Mr. I.H.K. Mahanama, Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Sampath Subasinhaarachchi, Chairman of the Land Reform Commission, Mr. C. Kuruppu, secretary of the Chief Government Whip of the Parliament, and many other officers of Land Reform Commission scattered all over the Island participated in the event.
